What Happens in an Alexander Technique Lesson?
Alexander Technique lessons are taught one to one, and the lesson is designed to meet the individual needs of the student. During the lesson, the student becomes aware of previously unrecognized habits that contribute to excess tension, restricted movement, inefficient breathing, lack of coordination, and pain. Under the teacher’s guidance the student learns new ways to live and move with greater ease, freedom, and better balance.
Students often say that, during and after a lesson they experience:
-feeling lighter and freer
-more aware of themselves and their surroundings
-a more positive sense of well-being
-being in much less of a “reactive” mode; having greater clarity and presence to make informed choices
What students learn in an Alexander Technique lesson can be applied to any activity - walking, participating in a sport, singing, playing a musical instrument, preparing meals in the kitchen. Learning the Alexander Technque helps you reconnect with the natural, free, and easy movement that children experience..
